  1. I have never seen this movie. But the argument is easy to discern. Starting with the typography, its rounded - curved lettering offers a docile and immature tone from the onset. It is catered most specifically to a younger crowd who might even derive entertainment from the movie poster itself - children.

The heavy use of color is another tell tale characteristic of a children's movie, and the title then sets up the imagery.

The Title is Cats & Dogs. The two species are lined up parrallel to one another, ina stand off of sorts. The dogs appear to be older because 3/4 are wearing eyeglasses whereas not one cat has glasses.

Both the cats and the dogs are wearing combat looking attire. The perception might be that the two sides are about to square off and battle for the rights to the sidewalk they both are standing on - in front of the pretty white house. Its a setting of warfare of the species, but the light hearted nature of the typography and the use of color balance lend itself to comedy.

My assesment is that its a childrens movie catering to time long arguemnt - cats vs dogs.

  2. I haven't seen this movie either--good job noticing all the visual cues that communicate that this is a children's movie. The confrontational 'faceoff' between the two characters in the center of the poster clearly says cats vs dogs to me as well. I am, however, confused by the background (I'm not sure where this fight is occuring exactly) or what all the equipment means (dog wearing the headset for example).
